As soon as the woman takes out the knife, a call with location details goes to three numbers that have been previously stored in the device. This device works on the basis of radio frequency and Bluetooth technology. The knife has a very small button that connects with the mobile phone via radio frequency as soon as you press the button at a time of distress.
Even as the family members and the police reach to help the woman, she can use the knife for self-defence.
A smart knife has been made by the students under the direction of Shyam Chaurasia, who is in charge of the research and development cell of Ashoka Institute.
Shyam Chaurasia says that the smart knife can not only scare off the criminal but also alert the police and attract the attention of nearby people at the same time. Also Read: Uttar Pradesh IAS officer resumes office after delivery with 22-day-old baby
