The Indian Army has published a sensational tape in which a militant is seen surrendering himself to the security forces during a clash in the Budgam region of Jammu and Kashmir. The footage was of a fruit orchard that showed the militant surrendering himself with no weapons and arms up after one security personnel assured him that “Koi goli nahi chalaega (Nobody will shoot)”. When the militant’s hideaway was caught in Budgam, located in central Kashmir. An army officer referred to him as ‘son’ and made him assure that he will not be harmed by the army personnel. Also, the officer ordered his fellows not to fire the bullet. Bhat, the militant who was only in his pants came to the officer and sat down on the ground. Thereafter, he was offered water by the army personnel.
Bhat’s father arrived at the spot momentarily after the army caught his son. He paid the gratitude to the personnel for making his son’s surrender easy. He was sobbing while expressing gratitude to the army personnel. He ensured the officers that his son will not be involved in such awry again. One SPO (Special Police Officer) went missing with two AK-47 on October 13. The same day, Bhat from Chadoora had gone missing too. A joint cordon and search operation was launched by the police, army and CRPF considering the presence of the SPO along with his ally, Bhat in the Chadoora area of Budgam.
The joint team reached near the target location, the SPO and Bhat started firing aimlessly. The security forces avenged the firing and this turned into a short gunfight. Amid the gunfight, the SPO managed to escape, but Bhat was captured alive on October 16 with one AK rifle.
The Indian army tweeted, “The Indian Army goes on with its effort to put on alternatives for misguided youth to return from the path of terrorism,” along with sharing the video of the surrender.
