The accused, who is a neighbour of the deceased, identified as Herento Tripura.
According to the police, in Tripura, the incident happened on late Monday evening at Rashidhanpara village located at Baikhora in South district.
On Monday, the woman had gone to a forest near her house to collect firewood. When she didn’t return till evening, her husband Dhananjay Tripura went to the forest to find her and found her body.
As per preliminary investigation, the woman was strangled.
Baikhora officer-in-charge Rajib Saha said, “The husband of the deceased lodged a complaint in our police station without accusing anyone. We have registered a murder case and during our investigation, we arrested Herento Tripura and some ornaments of the deceased were recovered from his possession.”.
